Invisalign® at Smiles On Grenfell
How Does It Work?
Using a series of clear, non-toxic plastic aligners, Invisalign gradually shifts your teeth into the desired position. The aligners, which are precisely moulded to your individual requirements, fit over your upper and lower teeth. They are similar in appearance to a sports mouth guard but are much thinner and less noticeable. Every 2 to 3 weeks we’ll give you a new set of aligners.
What are some of the benefits?
- Discreet: As Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible, you can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing. Because the aligners can be taken out, you also can enjoy all of your favourite foods during treatment.
- Comfortable: Because traditional metal braces include metal brackets and wire, they can irritate the mouth. Unlike these “train track” braces, which require getting regular adjustments, Invisalign doesn’t involve such adjustments, so you spend less time in our office.
- Easy to clean: It’s no secret that it’s challenging to keep your teeth clean withmetal braces. The inability to floss and brush properly can result in decalcification, which can lead to unattractive marks on the teeth and sometimes decay. Because Invisalign aligners can be removed, you can brush and floss normally, allowing you to maintain good oral hygiene and inhibit decalcification.
- Safer on teeth: While traditional metal braces do a good job of straightening one’s smile, taking them off at the end of treatment can sometimes cause some of the tooth’s enamel to be removed. Because no bonding material is required with Invisalign, you don’t have to be concerned with a loss of enamel.
